Xantho PLUS is an up-to-date, complex formula. We have extracted its active ingredients from plants which are extraordinarily high in antioxidants, for the best protection of cells against the harmful effects of free radicals.

Free radicals are unstable molecules possessing an unpaired electron. Electrons characteristically aspire to be in pairs, therefore they “steal” the missing part from other molecules. As free radicals enter into reaction easily and quickly with other compounds, their harmful effect can be significant as well.

Free radicals are produced in our body even during normal biochemical processes, but many of them are created by external factors. These external sources are characteristically associated with civilization such as: smog, cigarette smoke, ozone, ultraviolet radiation, certain medicines and other chemicals, and they are almost unavoidable in the modern world. On an average day our cells are exposed to approximately 10 000 “free radical attacks”  (Source: Imre Rodler: Élelmezés és táplálkozás egészségtan (Nutrition and Food Hygienics), Medicina Könyvkiadó Zrt. Budapest, 2008.) When the balance swings towards the harmful effects of free radicals, a so called oxidative stress may develop. The harmful effect is primarily caused by the “electrons” stolen from cell membranes and the chain reaction that it triggers, but a more powerful free radical effect may damage other cell components, like DNA. Our body protects itself against all of these by producing compounds with antioxidant effects, but we can also obtain such substances from external sources, for example via food, and high quality dietary supplements.

In the course of the development of Xantho PLUS we tried to exploit the excellent effects of the well known mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana). The formula contains, in the form of extracts, the precious active ingredients:polyphenols, xanthones, and mangostin of the fruit concentrated in a capsule. As antioxidants are not only effective by themselves, but due to the interactions between some antioxidants protect each other as well from oxidative damage, we have complemented the formula with a special blend, a mixture of the extract of plants with antioxidant effects which have been used safely for a long time like: green tea, grapefruit, grape seed, pomegranate, bilberry and blueberry.
